Utilities and EMCs

We buy surplus conductor from utilities and cooperatives

Distribution crews finish a job with conductor on the reel. That conductor is not scrap, and it does not belong in a landfill either.

Utilities and electric cooperatives buy conductor in bulk for storm restoration and routine rebuilds. When a project closes with partial reels, the material is usually clean, tagged and stored in a yard.

We buy the conductor. We do not buy transformers, cutouts, insulators, poles or any other line equipment, which is a boundary worth stating up front.

What we buy from utilities and cooperatives

URD and secondary conductor

Aluminum and copper service conductor in 2-2-2-4 through 4/0 and larger.

Primary and MV cable

15kV and 25kV cable with concentric neutral, priced on the tag and test data.

Storm stock surplus

Conductor bought for restoration and not consumed, still on sealed reels.

Utilities and cooperatives — wire and cable only, in any quantity worth a pickup.

What we need from you

  • Conductor size, insulation type and voltage class per reel
  • Reel tag and any test or certification data
  • Whether the reel was stored indoors or in a yard

Conductor, not equipment

The line is simple: cable and conductor only. That keeps the quote clean and keeps us out of the business of valuing apparatus, which is not what we do.

Wire and cable only

We do not buy transformers, switchgear, breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs, chillers, machinery, poles or unrelated scrap. Mixed loads are fine as long as we are quoting the wire portion.

Utilities and cooperatives questions

Do you buy transformers or line equipment?
No. Wire and cable only, which includes URD, secondary and primary conductor.
Do you buy recovered conductor?
Only cleanly removed cable with an intact jacket. Conductor stripped out of service is judged on condition and documentation.
Can you handle a yard cleanup?
Yes. A yard list with footage per reel is the fastest way to start.
